BlaX Macro presents itself as a comprehensive solution tailored for macro photography. Its interface is designed to facilitate rapid and effortless capturing of detailed images, appealing to both amateur and professional photographers seeking efficiency without compromising quality.

The application offers instant access to stable macro focus upon launch, allowing users to begin shooting immediately. It includes a variety of specialized macro presets in both color and black & white, accommodating diverse stylistic preferences. The focus and exposure controls are highly versatile, supporting manual, on-touch, and continuous modes, while white balance can be adjusted manually or continuously.

Additional features such as pinch-to-zoom, lockable screen and control widgets, tap-to-focus with exposure setting, and adjustable exposure compensation and zoom level contribute to precise image composition. The interface supports a square aspect ratio suitable for social media sharing and provides a distraction-free mode to streamline the shooting experience.

BlaX Macro supports both internal lenses and external camera attachments on compatible iOS devices, including iPhones and iPads. Importantly, the app is free of external advertisements or subscription models, with full functionality available upon download in multiple languages, including English, German, and French.

For advanced users, BlaX Macro offers a suite of professional tools: photographic color filters akin to traditional analog filters (e.g., red filter for blue skies), image sharpness overlays, color and luminance histograms, spirit level guidance, mood-based filters, and options to select image formats (HEIC, PNG, JPEG, TIFF). It also supports digital negatives like Apple ProRAW and other RAW formats depending on device capability. Users can customize watermarks, select additional aspect ratios, embed GPS data, save images in dedicated albums, and manually set exposure duration and ISO settings.

Enhanced shooting options include Bluetooth and volume button triggers, self-timer functionality (2s, 5s, 10s), red-mode for dark environments to protect eye health, scene illumination via the iPhone torch with adjustable intensity levels, and creative black & white filters to add mood and drama. The app offers more presets in both color and monochrome modes for artistic flexibility. It operates on a one-time purchase model without recurring fees.

The app allows pre-capture adjustments such as border size and color, contrast, sharpness, saturation, and vignette effects—enabling users to preview results before capturing an image.

A particularly useful feature is the selection of viewfinder masks to aid composition: options include Classic, Golden Ratio, Fibonacci Spiral and Squares, Diagonal, Circles, Crosshairs, Thirds grid—and custom requests are welcome for further customization.
